Today is the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus — and what a tender invitation it offers. This is no ordinary day, and June is no ordinary month! It carries a deep soul warmth that draws us into stillness, compassion, and connection with the divine spark within us.

In ancient tradition, the entire month of June is devoted to the Sacred Heart of Christ, a devotion rooted in the 17th century, when the mystic St. Margaret Mary Alacoque received a series of magnificent visions. What she was given to know, and what we are all invited to remember, is that Christ’s love is not distant or abstract. It is real. It is human. It feels. It aches. It stays. It is a heart that beats not above us — but with us – within us.

This is the heart we rest in.
The heart that knows us through and through—and loves us unconditionally.

It whispers in the quiet, burns with compassion in our most fragile hours, and radiates light where shadows try to darken. No wound is too deep for its healing. No silence too long for its love to embrace.

Earlier this month, the Strawberry Moon, or Rose Moon in my Celtic tradition, graced the night sky, symbolizing sweetness, healing, and the deep work of the heart. It invited us to ask:

  • What might it feel like to let love in, fully?
  • Do I believe I am truly worthy of this rich love?

And though the Summer Solstice has passed, its light still lingers. On June 20th, the sun offered us her longest embrace — a midsummer radiance that touched the earth and stirred the soul. The solstice is more than a seasonal turning; it is a sacred mirror. Just as the wildflowers bloom in golden light, we too are created to flourish. The light of Christ’s Sacred Heart, burning with eternal love, invites us to live abundantly, love with abandon, and radiate tremendous compassion from the inside out in our own unique way.

June reminds us that Heaven meets earth not in grand declarations, but in the shimmer of twilight, the hush of dawn, and the silent unfolding of love. Each heartbeat, each moment of awareness becomes a prayer, an offering to the One who loves us beyond comprehension.

And speaking of the heart — did you know your beats over 115,000 times a day, pumping nearly 2,000 gallons of blood? It contains more than 40,000 neurons — capable of sensing, remembering, even feeling. The heart is more than an organ. It is an intuitive intelligence. A holy sanctuary. A sacred dwelling of the divine spark.

So today, I gently invite you:

Place your hand over your heart and feel it beat. Breathe. Let the warmth you feel remind you — Christ is here, alive within. You are beloved.

As our new Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, offered in his recent June prayer:

“From this encounter with your Sacred Heart, O Jesus, send us out on mission — a mission of compassion for the world.”

May we each carry that mission in the way we listen, love, and live — with gentleness, with courage, and with hearts made wide and warm by grace.

And may we never forget:
We are not alone. We are held. We are profoundly loved.
